MotoGP

MotoGP is the most demanding and exciting arena in World Championship Motorsport and never in the 53 year history of Grand Prix motorcycle racing has the worldwide interest level been higher !

The championship is viewed live on television in more than 200 countries and territories around the world, with an average of 329 million viewers per event. The series also registered an average of over 100,000 onsite spectators per Grand Prix in 2002, with a total of 1,698,312 fans attending the 16 rounds series, to consolidate MotoGP’s position as one of the most highly attended sports events in the world.

The official website of the MotoGP World Championship achieved it’s highest ever number of visits in October 2002 as fans scoured almost 25 million pages over the course of just the one month.

International superstars such as Valentino Rossi, Max Biaggi, Kenny Roberts and Carlos Checa have risen through the Grand Prix ranks and now a new generation of future stars is preparing to join them !

From British shores, talented teenager Chaz Davies has proved himself as nation’s brightest hope of Grand Prix success since the legendary Barry Sheene. Chaz made his World Championship debut in Japan at the start of the 2002 season after a meteoric and unprecedented rise through domestic competition. After beginning his career on two wheels at just eight years of age, Chaz became the youngest ever winner of a round of the 125cc British Championship at fourteen, cementing his reputation as the hottest young British motorcycling talent of recent years.

In April 2002 he made his Grand Prix graduation and, under the constant spotlight of national and international press, went on to become one of the youngest riders ever to score World Championship points when he finished at Estoril. Still aged only fifteen, Chaz established a reputation as a consistent and prodigious talent during his rookie season, and is a shining light for the future of motorcycle racing in Great Britain, one of sport’s most glorious and significant nations.
